Hello Everyone, welcome to OneBasicForest.
I am not sure if anyone knows of the story of the one red paperclip. It is a guy that is trading up from one red paperclip to get a house, and he is almost there.
Well this has inspired me...
I am going to attempt to trade up from a Magic:The Gathering 4th edition basic forest, up to a Magic:The Gathering Alpha/Beta Black Lotus.
Taking prices from www.starcitygames.com, the basic forest is currently worth $.25 and the Black Lotus is currently worth $2000. So you can see I am not trying to trade up along the same scale as the guy from One Red Paperclip.
Why?
Well, it's not because of money. It'll be out of fun and generosity. It'll be fun to see people helping me reach my goal. Once I reach that goal. I am going to sell the card on eBay and donate all of the money to St. Jude Children's Hospital
So up first for trade is one Magic:The Gathering 4th Edition basic forest. Please email me the offers along with scans or description of the card(s) to onebasicforest@gmail.com
I will post the offers below as they come in. Offers on the basic forest will end on 6/30/2006 at 5:00 CST.
Edit: I was asked about which forest it is out of the set and it's condition. The forest is Forest (A) from 4th edition (link) by Christopher Rush, and it is in near mint condition. I will send it in a sleeve and a hardcase.
Thanks,
Jayson Saumer

Star City may be the worst place on the web to quote a price from, btw.
findmagiccards.com looks at the averages of dozens of card shops and graphs the price trands, much like stocks.
Star City has more Magic Cards than anyone on the planet and could give a crap about the market, since they can set it or wreck it on a whim.

cardshark.com is another nice place similar to findmagiccards.com. There are multitudes of places to get prices from. Thanks for the feedback.
